DND Honor Among Thieves Movie Review

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

Overall Score: 3.8 / 5

As a DnD fan, I was excited to watch DND Honor Among Thieves, and overall, it didn't disappoint. There were some impressive aspects to the movie, but also some areas that could have been improved.

Sound Score - 3 / 5

The sound score didn't significantly enhance the storytelling, but it did add to the atmosphere of the world. While it didn't stand out, it also didn't detract from the overall experience.

Special Effects and Animation - 4 / 5

Some of the spells used by the characters were visually stunning, and the animation in those moments was impressive. For example, the DnD spell, Maximilian's Earthen Grasp, where a hand comes out of the dirt was a memorable moment as was the druidic wild shape transformations. However, there were a few instances where the special effects and camera angles could have been improved.

Story - 3 / 5

While the movie had a promising start, the story felt rushed at the beginning as it introduced multiple characters. However, I understand the need to quickly establish the characters and make the audience care about them. In the future, it would be great if the movie producers took inspiration from Marvel and created origin stories that lead to a grand finale.

Acting - 5 / 5

One of the standout aspects of the movie was the phenomenal cast of actors. Many of them were perfectly cast, especially the actress, Chloe Coleman, from "65 Million Years Ago" who gave a standout performance. Michelle Rodriguez, from "Fast and Furious", also did an excellent job portraying her tough barbarian. Justice Smith as a sorcerer and Sophia Lillis as a druid were both great casts as well.

World Building - 4 / 5

For a DnD movie, the film did an impressive job of incorporating the world that we know and love. The movie paid homage to the DnD universe, including a lot of fan work, while also building a beautiful and expansive world.

Overall, [Movie Title] is a promising start to DnD movies, and I would definitely like to see more movies built from this. The movie had some impressive moments, especially with the talented cast and the stunning animation of spells. While there were some areas of improvement, such as the rushed story at the beginning, the movie still managed to capture the essence of DnD and its universe.
